The group or organization buys a network marketing product... in bulk, at a discount... to sell to their customers. NOTE: It is NOT cool to try to make a big profit selling fundraising products to a fundraising group. This is all about helping the group to make money. Your big gain here is the advertising that it creates for you. When the fundraiser goes well, with good marketing and advertising, some of the fundraiser's customers are now MLM sales leads... customers, as well as possible future pre qualified MLM leads. We all learn the hard way that direct recruiting for distributors can have very low odds of success...after dozens of leads, you might hit one person interested in joining. But many times, new distributors just pop up out of a good customer base... with a lot less work, pain, and suffering on your part... a prequalified MLM lead! Every fundraiser is a bit different...
