MLM Opportunities
How can a new network marketer choose from the huge number of MLM opportunities?? Many, if not most, network marketers decided on their company because their sponsor introduced them to a great MLM product or they discovered one on their own. They became a loyal customer, and then became attracted to the idea of making money by sharing it with others. So look for a product that sounds great to you and buy one to try it out (see Network Marketing Product link below). Some network marketers become dissatisfied with their company or its product or the structure of the compensation plan. But they believe in the proven potential for great success in network marketing, so they start to look at other network marketing companies. Others… myself included… are simply excited enough about more than one MLM product or opportunity that they become a distributor for more than one company. There’s usually no problem with this, unless the two companies’ products are similar. Being a distributor for both companies, in that situation, will probably be a violation of one or both companies’ Policies & Procedures. Even if it wouldn’t actually be breaking any written rule, though, my opinion is that it might ethically be a bit of a sticky situation, because it might be very hard to keep your loyalties straight.
There are also some companies with policies that are SO restrictive that their distributors are simply NOT PERMITTED to be a distributor for any other network marketing company. Always read the Policies & Procedures… long, boring, and legalistic though they may be. There are experts in the network marketing industry who insist that network marketers should NOT be involved in more than one company. I disagree. I follow in the footsteps of one of my main MLM Success Angels, Tim Sales, by placing my prospects’ needs first. If my prospect believes in the value of network marketing in general, and if we eventually decide that she would benefit from a network marketing business, I like to be able to offer more than one of the many MLM opportunities that are out there, rather than referring her to friends in other network marketing companies that would better meet her needs. And I have done this; it's not crazy or suicidal for my business. Those other MLM friends will return the favor! The important thing is finding a great match for every prospect. Okay.
