10 Steps To MLM Success

These 10 steps to MLM success can show you how to become rich in network marketing... or how you can at least stand a chance to make extra money part time... if you don't skip any steps, and if you work hard for a while.

Successful network marketing usually involves a bit of research, training, and making life changes... like losing that television addiction you might have, as well as other self improvement ideas.

So here is my recommended List of 10 Steps To MLM Success...

• #1
  Before you jump in, become somewhat familiar with the various major types of BUSINESS MODELS, so that you know what you're getting into.
  Some of these are traditional businesses, franchises, etc.

  NO type of business is a way to get rich fast, network marketing included. ANY of them may be how to become rich for someone, but not for everyone who tries it.

  MLM puts many people every year on the millionaires list. For many more others, it's at least a way to make extra money part time, or is one of several of their different ways to make extra money. But sadly, most fail to succeed at making even a modest income, just as in most new businesses of any kind.

  So network marketing may or may not be a match for you, your personality, or your lifestyle.
  Do your homework ahead of time.

  Read about some of the famous entrepreneurs in this country, in the past and present.
  Learn their way of thinking about success and how to achieve it. The best source that I know is the book "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill, written in the 1930's... remarkably similar ideas to those in the modern-day book "The Secret". It can be found free online in its entirety.

  Know that multi level marketing businesses are a legitimate work from home business.
  And learn how to communicate this fact comfortably and convincingly to others... your family, friends, acquaintances, and prospects... without being (or sounding) defensive. Know the definitions of pyramid schemes and ponzi schemes. Know why legal multi level marketing companies are not one of those illegal entities or "MLM scams".

  Put together YOUR list of top ten MLM companies by studying a list of MLM companies or an MLM directory.
  I say your list, because no such list exists. My list of top network marketing companies would not necessarily be the best for you, since there are many factors to consider, with some of them more important to you than to me. So you have to make your own list. If you are not already an expert network marketer with a lot of previous experience with several different companies, I would caution you to be very careful about any MLM prelaunch, new MLM opportunities, and basically, any new MLM company in general. They may sound fantastic, but they have no track record yet to prove that they can be a best MLM company for you. And you are NOT qualified to evaluate them. Leave your emotions out of this important decision to choose a company.

  Pay particular attention to the MLM PRODUCT as you study the MLM directory.
  It's very important that you find a product that you wholeheartedly love and believe in. If you don't, you won't be able to honestly sell it or ethically recruit other MLM distributors to sell it. Loving your network marketing product isn't, alone, enough to sell and recruit successfully, but it's very important to start there. Besides personally loving it, you should evaluate if there's a good market for it. Factors to consider are category of product, uniqueness, price, and babyboomers. As an example, the products that my two MLM companies sell are very different, so their target markets tend to be different. My acai energy drink and antioxidant juice sells to a different demographic group, on average, than the people who are interested in my other, more unique, more easy-selling network marketing product.

  Learn about MLM compensation plans as you study your list of MLM companies.
  They all have very different ways of paying their MLM distributors. Most of the time, distributors don't understand their MLM comp plan until well after they start to get paid. And while any plan can make a good networker rich, many people eventually learn that they prefer some other company's plan over their own. A little research ahead of time would have let them make a more educated choice from among the thousands of reputable MLM companies.

  Look for the best MLM training that you can find.
  This would be from the "angelic" types of network marketing professionals with integrity that I highlight on this website's Trainers (Angels) page. Each of these is an MLM success coach that specializes in general network marketing training for anyone, without focusing on or promoting any particular multi level marketing opportunity.

  Good training is less important if you choose a network marketing company that makes things easier for you than the average company. You may have to try a few before you find the right match for you. I did. And many successful network marketers change companies during their careers.

• #8 (of 10 Steps to MLM Success)
  Get started on SELF IMPROVEMENT AND MOTIVATION.
  These are critical to any business, but particularly network marketing. This was the most surprising thing that I learned when I entered network marketing.... the winners are into this big time and encourage personal development goal setting in their MLM downline.

  Our MLM success depends so much on how we interact with others. And I challenge you to find a person on this earth who would not benefit from personal development plans and relationship counseling.

  There is a huge amount of new information to learn in order to succeed in a business. Thankfully, much of it is available in books and/or online... often for free. Yes, the free information may often be intended as bait to entice you to join that person's team, but that doesn't necessarily subtract from the value of their teaching.

  If you can afford the time and the money, a life coach for personal development can be a great investment.

  Daily motivation is very important (but less so, the more you love your company and its product). Look for webpages of success quotes, achievement quotes, motivational words, or positive thinking phrases. Some of them offer free email subscriptions to a "quote of the day" or "quote of the week" that can add a quick boost to your day.

  Self improvement ideas and self improvement resources are almost endless. Look online or in your library for books, ebooks, CD's, and DVD's to help you put together your own personal development plans.

  Do a little thinking ahead of time about where YOU might find MLM prospects.
  This may or may not be the same place that your sponsor recommends, depending upon your personality, lifestyle, and current job. Prospects include both MLM sales leads direct selling of your multi level marketing product, as well as prospective new MLM distributors (a prequalified MLM lead) to grow your team.

  Look for an MLM company that incorporates easy prospecting in its distributor resources, like one of my companies does.
  Otherwise...

  MLM scripts are a very traditional form of person-to-person "prospecting".

  Depending upon the type of products that your company markets, and their price, a successful fundraiser for a nonprofit or other organization can bring you both types of prospects.

  Explore methods of MLM marketing.
  You can see how a successful fundraiser can be a good form of MLM advertising, as well as prospecting. A lot of people are exposed to the products, possibly becoming repeat customers or pre qualified MLM leads.
  This is a great form of "attraction marketing", which is essentially any method of getting prospects to come to you, rather than you approaching them to "sell" your product or opportunity.

  Other more traditional forms of advertising include an "elevator speech", newspaper or Penny Pincher ads, and bulk email advertising from an MLM mailing list that you add to from each opt in mlm email lead that comes through network marketing online with your own personal website.

  But the most important basic factor for MLM distributors who are "not good at selling"... either the network marketing product or the network marketing business opportunity... is to choose an MLM company that makes it easy!
  If necessary, change to a new MLM company. That's what I did at one point, and things got a lot easier.
